The Eiffel Tower

The Eiffel Tower

Landmark of Paris symbol of France the world over, the Eiffel Tower is 324 meters tall and from the top offers a spectacular panoramic view of the capital city and its monuments. Designed by Gustave Eiffel, the tower is located on the northwest end of the Champ-de-Mars park and was inaugurated for the Universal Exposition of 1889. The work took two years to complete and at its début Eiffel tower was the subject of much criticism. Its avant-garde architecture and imposing size invariably generated strong opinions. Today, the Eiffel Tower is one of the most frequently visited tourist sites in the world.

Near the base of the tower, the Trocadero Gardens stretch from the Palais de Chaillot museum down to the banks of the Seine. A beautiful view can be seen as soon as one reaches the first platform level on the tower by climbing the stairs, or during the descent in the elevators. To the southwest, the Mirabeau Bridge crosses the Seine, and to the northeast, the Montmartre hill seems close at hand.

The second platform level offers one of the most exceptional views of Paris. At 115 meters in height, and in clear weather, you can see up to 70 kilometers to the West. And at the very top of the tower, a champagne bar allows you to commemorate this unforgettable moment at the summit.
